BOARD MEMBERS The Board of Governors delegates local governance authority, responsibility and accountability to chapter boards. All chapter boards are responsible for the following:

• Supporting implementation of the national strategic plan.
• Approving the chapter’s strategic and financial plans.
• Raising adequate funds in accordance with the chapter budget and
other financial goals.
• Developing relationships and generating other resources to ensure
that the chapter meets its strategic and financial goals.
• Ensuring the chapter is in compliance with corporate regulations
and meets established performance standards.
• Exercising fiduciary responsibilities, including budget and annual
audit oversight, and good stewardship of locally held assets.
• Proposing the hiring, evaluation, compensation and retention of the
chapter executive. Community chapter boards work in partnership
with the regional chapter executive; regional chapter boards work
in partnership with the service area executive.
• Implementing organizational performance improvement plans.

Regional chapter boards have the same responsibilities as community
chapter boards, but have some additional responsibilities for ensuring
regional fiduciary performance, including regional fiscal strategies,
financial performance and budget alignment.
