The
American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization providing
relief to disaster victims and helping people prevent,
prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
We are led by
volunteers and guided by our Congressional Charter.
We are not a government agency and do not receive any
funding from National Headquarters. We are supported by
community donations and volunteers.
The services we provide are:
1. Disaster - Provide prompt relief to victims of
major disasters such as floods, earthquakes, blizzards &
tornadoes. We also provide assistance to victims of single
family disasters such as fires. We offer Community Disaster
Education to prepare the community for disaster.
2. Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) – The only
agency who provides
emergency communication to our U.S. Armed Forces to resolve
family
emergencies. We also participate in deployment briefings for
the soldiers and their families when called for duty, “Get
To Know Us Before You Need Us”.
3. International Services - Assist in searching to
locate people within the
U. S. for other countries. We participate in the Measles
Initiative in Africa.
4. Health & Safety – Provide First Aid, CPR, and AED
training. Lifeguarding,
swimming and water safety education. Bloodborne Pathogens,
and Babysitter’s Training.
5. Blood Services – Participate in blood drives
within Armstrong County and
provide blood to 50% of the hospitals in the U.S.
